Thigh Lift

If you’ve lost a substantial amount of weight, a thigh lift can firm up this part of your legs by removing excess tissue, skin folds, skin irregularities, and fat. If your thighs have been your one problem area that are resistant to improving through exercise, a thigh lift just might be your solution. A thigh lift can improve the contour of the thighs, creating youthful, firmer skin.

A thigh lift is a very individualized procedure, and Dr. Louis Iorio is an expert at the variety of cosmetic procedures used to produce the best results for each patient.

What is a thigh lift?

At Iorio Plastic Surgery & Medspa in Holmdel, Colts Neck, and Brick, NJ, a thigh lift is used to remove excess tissue and fat following substantial weight loss. After you undergo surgery for weight reduction or lose weight through exercise and diet, skin in the thigh and buttock area may lose elasticity and may not be able to conform to your new, smaller body shape. In this case, you may notice sagging skin, skin irregularities, and skin folds. A thigh lift can help by improving the contour of the body and creating skin that looks firmer.

What are the benefits of a thigh lift?

A thigh lift can improve the contour of your body and result in skin with a firmer appearance. Best of all, the results of a thigh lift are noticeable immediately: your thighs and buttocks will look firmer and more toned. By following a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a healthy weight, you can prolong your new toned look.

How is a thigh lift performed?

During a thigh lift, Dr. Iorio will make incisions through which excess fat and tissue are surgically removed. These incisions are usually made along natural skin folds or in areas where clothing will conceal them post-surgery, but the length and location of the incisions will vary based on how extensive your thigh lift procedure will be.

Dr. Iorio sometimes recommends liposuction to enhance the results of a thigh lift by further removing localized areas of fatty deposits.

Dr. Iorio may insert temporary drainage tubes to remove excess fluid and promote healing. At the end of the thigh lift procedure, your incisions will be closed with sutures and wrapped with bandages for faster and safer healing as well.

What happens after a thigh lift?

After you have a thigh lift, Dr. Iorio will give you medication to help treat any pain you might experience and provide you with detailed instructions for post-operative wound care. We suggest that you wear a compression garment to help reduce swelling and promote healing, which can take around a month after your surgery. You’ll also need to reduce your activity level while you heal. You can usually return to more strenuous activities in one to three months.
