Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty)

Don't let your neck give away your age! A neck lift (cervicoplasty) vanishes signs of aging from the neck and defines the angle of the jaw. A neck lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that our board-certified plastic and general surgeon Dr. Louis Iorio performs to remove a fleshy "turkey neck" and create a firmer, more youthful jawline.

What Is A Neck Lift?

Neck lifts can be used to improve the appearance of the neck. Neck lift procedures may include removing excess skin from the neck; removing neck muscles; liposuction to remove extra fat from the neck; and/or Botox® to reduce the fullness of the neck.

What Can A Neck Lift Achieve?

A neck lift can help make the neck look smoother and younger. This procedure is especially helpful for treating a “turkey neck,” removing excess fat from the neck, and ridding excess skin from the neck.

Neck Lift Procedure

There are a number of different procedures that Dr. Iorio uses for neck lifts. During your consultation with Dr. Iorio, he will discuss the neck lift procedure that makes the most sense for you.

To treat turkey neck, Dr. Iorio will make cuts behind your ears or under your chin to reach the neck muscle called the platysma. Botox® may also be used along with or instead of the surgery to relax the platysma and reduce the “turkey neck” appearance.

To remove excess fat, you may undergo neck lift surgery using liposuction, where a small cut is made below your chin and excess fat is removed.

If you have too much skin on your neck, you can have neck lift surgery to trim the skin and then reattach it up into place with stitches or tissue glue.

Can A Neck Lift Be Combined With Other Procedures?

At Iorio Plastic Surgery & Medspa, a neck lift may be performed with a face lift or chin augmentation for a facial makeover.

What To Expect After Neck Lift

Depending on what type of neck lift surgery you have, your healing time will vary. Endoscopic surgery tends to heal faster than traditional surgery. If you receive liposuction, your neck will be stitched and bandaged. If you have neck surgery to trim the skin, you’ll need to wear a compression bandage for about a week to promote healing.

Swelling and bruising can last for several days after a neck lift. Most neck lift patients return to work about 10 to 14 days after the surgery.
