Brow Lift

brow lift corrects the sagging or low position of the eyebrows to create a fresher, more relaxed appearance. A heavy forehead or brow can leave you looking sad, tired, or angry. Brow lift cosmetic surgery at Iorio Plastic Surgery & Medspa erases deep horizontal lines across the forehead and furrows between the eyebrows and across the top of the nose.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift, also referred to as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can help correct the effects of aging skin on the upper part of the face. A forehead lift can be performed simultaneously with a facelifteyelid surgery, and/or rhinoplasty for more dramatic results.

What are the benefits of a brow lift?

A brow lift can help to smooth or soften forehead wrinkles and lift sagging eyebrows, resulting in a younger- and fresher-looking face. A brow lift can also help reduce horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and frown lines between the eyebrows.

How is a brow lift performed?

Board-certified plastic surgeon and general surgeon Dr. Louis Iorio will help you choose the best brow lift surgery technique for you during your consultation. Dr. Iorio will start by looking at your overall facial features, skin integrity, and bone structure, as well as your desired outcome.

The types of brow lift surgery include traditional “open” cosmetic surgery or endoscopic surgery. In traditional surgery, Dr. Iorio will make an incision behind your hairline. To cover the incision as it heals after surgery, you may want to grow your hair out before having brow lift surgery; if you are bald or balding, Dr. Iorio can use a mid-scalp incision.

In endoscopic brow lift surgery, Dr. Iorio uses a tiny camera called an endoscope to guide the surgery. He will make several small incisions behind the hairline to insert narrow surgery instruments. By looking through the camera, he can see what muscles need to be resected or released and can more accurately place sutures to raise the brow skin. No matter which type of surgery you have, the incisions will be closed at the end with stitches or staples.

What happens after a brow lift?

The recovery time after a brow lift will depend on whether you had traditional or endoscopic brow lift surgery. In both types of brow lift surgery, the stitches or staples will be removed in about a week. You may also experience swelling that can last about a week.

Patients who have a traditional brow lift may experience more pain than those who have an endoscopic brow lift. We will prescribe oral medication to treat the pain if needed.

Though vigorous activity should be avoided for several weeks, most patients can return to work within about 10 days after brow lift surgery.
