Are you still concerned about your waistline even though you’re already dieting and exercising? If so, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) may be a good treatment for you. Having a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) at Iorio Plastic Surgery & Medspa can create a toned lean silhouette to your waistline.
What is a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)?
A tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin, stretch marks, and fat from the abdomen and tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. During a tummy tuck, Dr. Louis Iorio will surgically remove excess skin and fatty deposits from your abdomen, as well as reposition and tighten the muscles in your abdomen.
A tummy tuck is best suited for healthy men and women who, despite diet and exercise, are still troubled by excessive fat deposits or sagging skin around the abdomen.
Who is a candidate for a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)?
You may want to consider having a tummy tuck if:
- You’ve tried diet and exercise, but are still unhappy with the fat in your abdomen area.
- You’ve lost weight and now have excess skin around the abdomen.
- You’ve lost skin elasticity or have loose abdomen muscles after pregnancy.
The benefits of a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
A tummy tuck procedure at Iorio Plastic Surgery & Medspa will help make your stomach tighter and flatter.
A tummy tuck can also help fix the vertical separation of abdomen muscles that can occur after pregnancy, a condition known as diastasis. If you’ve experienced multiple pregnancies and yearn for your pre-pregnancy figure, a tummy tuck can help get you back to your pre-pregnancy look and into all of the latest fashions Additionally, a tummy tuck can be combined with a breast lift for a total body makeover.
How is a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) performed?
Depending on your body shape and the desired results of your tummy tuck procedure, abdominoplasty surgery can take between 2 to 5 hours.
To start, Dr. Iorio will make an incision above your pubic bone area that will go horizontally across the lower abdomen. Your skin will be stretched away from your muscle tissue, and Dr. Iorio will remove the excess skin, then tighten your abdominal muscle tissue. At the end of the tummy tuck, Dr. Iorio will close your incision and stitch it back into place.
What happens after a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)?
After your tummy tuck, we’ll give you detailed post-surgery instructions to follow. We’ll generally ask you to get lots of rest and to limit your movement to quicken the healing process and speed your recovery. You may experience some swelling, pain, and discomfort, but we can prescribe you medication to help.
After a few weeks of limited activity, you can gradually get back to your usual activities. Within a year, your body should adapt to your new abdominal structure and, if you supplement your surgery with regular exercise and a balanced diet, your great results can last a lifetime.
